Your Parents Are Your Parents. Not Your Friend

Your parents are not your friends; they are your parents. Why can’t people understand that?

Your parents are meant to guide you and raise you to be a productive and kind member of society. If your parents are your friends, they will not give you the values you need because they will not treat you how they should.

You are not equal to your parents. I don’t understand why children can not grasp that concept. There are hierarchies in this world, and your family structure is one of them. There is a reason why we do not let three-year-olds determine what their bedtime is and why the parents make the decisions.

When parents see children as equal, there is no way to teach them the lessons they need to succeed in life. Parents have more knowledge than children. Whether you want to admit it or not, they are wiser.

Your parents are there to help you and there to raise you. Yes, sometimes love can be harsh. It should never be abusive, but it is okay if it is harsh.

And you should respect your parents and guardians. They give you everything, and they make sacrifices you can’t even imagine. Parenting is hard, and many times, as children, we take it for granted. I know I did until I relaized it was too late.

I don’t have much time to write anymore, work is busy, and I am not sure when I will be able to write again for you but remember this, my friends, you’re parents are your parents and when you raise your kids, they will appreciate it more if you act like their parent and not their friend.
